What happened to… Ronny?

ronny_mix

Can you imagine a hybrid between Marlene Dietrich and Annie Lennox? A music between the sounds of the Weimar Republic and synthpop? For a short while such a blend existed, in style as well as in music. Most pioneers of synthpop in the late 70s/early 80s were eager to surround themselves with a fog of mystery, but one woman managed to become totally obscure. Perhaps you have never heard of her. Her name is Ronny. Read More →

The Ubuntu Touch Phone

ubuntu_phone

Half a year ago I got fed up with the mobile phone triopoly of Google, Apple and Microsoft. Being a Linux nerd for years I thought the time was right to evaluate the Ubuntu Touch phone.

There are only a few phone brands sold with a native Ubuntu OS. Offers can be found on the homepage of Ubuntu for phones. There is also the possibility to put the OS on a huge variety of phones yourself, but it is not recommended for inexperienced users as it demands quite some skills to make it work. The Twin Peaks Aesthetics

twin-peaks

Twin Peaks was an American TV-series by David Lynch and Mark Frost, which was broadcast from 1990-91. My Top 5 Adventure Games

adventures

Dealing most of the time with popular culture on these pages, I hardly ever wrote about computer video games. Back in the days I used to play a lot of them, but recently I have to choose wisely, as the perception of spare time changes when one is not a student any more. I mostly play adventures, strategy games and RPGs. Let’s start with the most memorable and impressive adventure games I have played so far. Read More →

What happened to… Bill Pritchard?

billpritchard

Have you ever heard of the British singer-songwriter Bill Pritchard? No? Neither did I, until I recently came across his name through an obscure 80s playlist on YouTube. The list was rather mediocre, one or the other ear-worm amongst them, but nothing special. The very last song was Bill Pritchard’s ‘Invisible State’. “Wow”, I said to myself, “let’s find out more about this guy”! Read More →
